Who is your favorite Superhero? Personally, I have always been a Marvel guy! Spiderman and Wolverine rank in my top 2! Side note: Daredevil doesn't get enough love. He really doesn't have any superhero powers other than heightened senses.
We probably won't reach that level of superhuman ability... but that's not going to stop me from trying!
Here are 5 daily habits that I do/ strive for every single day that I believe can help anyone get a few steps closer to superhero status:
1: Exercise
Y'all, Monday-Friday... I go HARD. I lift heavy every day. I do plyometric exercises, so that I don't lose the ability to jump and move quickly. Why not push ourselves to the limit of what is physically possible for each of us individually? I believe if you try to reach for the utmost of your personal ability... that is superhuman! On Saturdays and Sundays, I will get out for something active with the family, walk, and do some mobility.
“No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.” -Socrates
2: Read
This is new to me, so I won't get on a high horse. But we should also aim to expand and strengthen our minds. Read about others who have accomplished great things. Read and learn to better yourself. This will pay off mentally, physically, and financially. Two of my recent favorites: In a Pit with a Lion on a Snowy Day and How to Win Friends and Influence People.
Ps I have started the habit of reading 10 pages of a physical book each morning after I read my Bible. Then I will have a second book that I listen to while at the gym and driving.
3: Eating Habits
I eat 2 Brazil nuts every single day. Not because they taste good but because they supposedly can help increase testosterone, they are packed with nutrients, may decrease inflammation, and may also be good for brain and heart health. At the very least they are a good source of vitamins and healthy fats. Eat more protein. Eat more fiber. Eat less sugar and junk food. Do these things consistently and you're on your way to superhuman abilities (compared to the average person at least). I will also include proper hydration in eating habits. Absolute game changer if you're chronically dehydrated.
4: Get Daily Sunlight
I'm no doctor but I'm just telling you when I prioritize daily sunlight: I'm in a better mood, I sleep better that night, and lets just be honest... we all look better with a tan! The vitamin D you get from sunlight helps your bones, immune system, and blood cells. It also helps you to better absorb calcium and phosphorus.
Sunlight = Superpower
*just to state the obvious here: too much sunlight, like too much of anything, can be a bad thing. Use common sense here people. I aim for a minimum of 15 minutes of direct sunlight daily: shirt off, short shorts, and a floppy hat, so my crow's feet don't get worse.
5: Adequate Sleep
This is my kryptonite and my achilles heel. Sleep is when our muscles heal from tough workouts and is important to literally every bodily function. I have a hard time falling to sleep and probably average 5 hours of sleep per night. When I get 6+ I feel bulletproof. We should all be aiming for 7-8 hours per night.
Heres what I have been trying: 5g of glycine before bed, blue light glasses once the sun goes down, and melatonin when I can tell it's going to be one of those nights.
If you're going to attempt superhero stuff... you need to be well rested!
There you have it! 5 easy daily habits you can implement to get one step closer to superhuman!
